A human child named Nine is abandoned to live with the Lusus in the lower section of the city. They grow up under the care of a noodle shop owner, a Lusus named Orme. They live aware of their differences, but unaware of their origins until one day they return to the shop to see it destroyed. A message left by the perpetrators beckons the human to return to their past and learn their true nature.
